Congratulations to
the Union City Girls Cross Country Team for their phenomenal 2nd
place finish at the PIAA State Cross Country Meet in Hershey this
weekend! The girls team was barely ranked in the top 10, but, they came
to the race ready to run and ran away with the runner up position! This
2nd place finish is the highest any
Union City Girls team has ever finished at the State Cross Country
Championships!!!!! Vicky Bem lead the team to this finish with an all
state performance in 19th place. She was followed by Montana Sparks in
35th, Becca Reichbaum in 78th, Lori Beth Nunamker 79th, Melissa Bem 95th,
Brittany Kafferlin 244th and Tanya Grossman 282nd. What a way to end
an awesome season girls!! Taylor Hanlin
also finished his senior year on a positive note. Taylor was the lone
Union City boy runner at the state meet for the second year in a row.
Taylor ran a strong race to finish 85th! 69 places better than last
year! Good job Taylor! Be sure to congratulate all the state
runners on a job well done!
